Buckets installed but the quest will not progress
This can be a quest softlock rather than a missing bucket. If both buckets are visibly installed but the task still asks you to add them, repeatedly trying to install them again may not advance it.
Before you start over
- Try quitting and restarting the game. This has helped some players, although others remained stuck.
- Look for an earlier save from before installing the buckets. Loading that point and doing the repair again has helped players with the bucket problem.
- Keep the affected save as well. Do not overwrite your only copy while trying a rollback.
Loading an earlier save is a rollback, not a repair of the current stuck save. A game update alone is not a guaranteed way to recover an already affected save, so keep your save options open.
Fixes that do not work consistently
Dying to reset the area, installing the buckets last, or changing which bucket goes in first has not worked consistently. Do not assume a successful normal repair proves that a particular order will rescue a save that is already stuck.
If the quest disappears after the generator starts, or the gate panel stops responding after a death, that is a different symptom from buckets failing to count.
Water Pump repair materials
The Water Pump’s repair interaction uses F / Fix and requires:

After the repair, the water-control task requires flow to reach both waterwheels and the indicator lights to turn green. That is the normal water-routing goal; it does not reset an earlier bucket softlock.
